LeydenJar Technologies BV is a spin out venture from Dutch Energy research center ECN. They are developing pure silicon anodes to boost the energy density of Li-ion battery cells. Their production method is based on altered Linear MW PECVD technology. PECVD is commonly used in the Photovoltaic and Semiconductor industry. They deposit the pure silicon directly on copper foil, providing a high capacity- and cost efficient alternative to graphite based anodes, produced with a capital intensive coating process.
